District 9 Baseball Coaches Association

 

CONSTITUTION


ARTICLE I

Name

This organization was founded in 1989 and shall be known as the “District 9 Baseball Coaches Association.”


ARTICLE II

Objectives

The objectives of this association are:

1. To promote baseball programs in the District 9 area

2. To create an official line of communication with the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association

3. To create an official line of communication with the Northwest District Athletic Board

4. To create an official line of communication with the Ohio High School Athletic Association

5. To select the District 9 All Area Teams, Players of the Year and Coaches of the Year

6. To establish a high standard of ethics and integrity that promotes the game of baseball

7. To promote good fellowship and a proper spirit of sportsmanship among our members


ARTICLE III

Amendment of Constitution

The constitution and by-laws may be amended at any meeting by an affirmative vote of a majority of the active members present provided that said amendment be read to the membership at a preceding meeting


ARTICLE IV

Officers


Section 1. The officers of this association shall be the Past President, President, Vice-President, and Secretary who are elected to two year terms.  The treasurer, is a non-elected position that is appointed by the President. Their terms shall become effective at the conclusion of the All Star Game on even years.


Section 2. The duties of the officers and recommended guidelines of association meetings shall be provided in the by-laws.


Section 3. In order to hold an office of this association, one must be an active member in good standing for a minimum of two (2) years.


Section 4. In the event of an office vacancy, the position shall be appointed by the President with the approval of the officers.

 

ARTICLE V

Membership


Section 1. Active members must be a high school baseball coach. Each active member has the right to one (1) vote on all voting issues. If he cannot be present, he may designate an associate member from his school to cast his vote provided the President has been previously notified. Membership shall be twenty dollars ($20).

 

Section 2. Membership is open to all high school coaches  interested in high school baseball including head coaches, varsity assistant coaches, junior varsity coaches, freshmen coaches,  and  retired coaches of a school district approved by the school board. They may take an active role in business discussions with voting rights. The exception to this is the voting for the All District teams. Only one vote per member school is permitted for All District teams, unless designated by their absent head coach.

 

Section 3. Annual dues must be paid by April 1 of the current school year. Member’s dues not received by April 1 shall not be eligible to nominate players for the All District Team, the All Star Team or be eligible for nomination for Coach of the Year. The officer’s dues shall be waived as compensation for their work during their term in office.


ARTICLE VI

Meetings


Section 1. The first meeting of the year shall take place the Sunday one week after the OHSBCA Clinic in January.  Dues shall be collected at this meeting in order to participate in the Association for the current school year.


Section 2. A business meeting shall be held in conjunction with the District Meeting at the State Baseball Coaches Association Clinic.


Section 3. A business meeting with the election of officers shall be held during the All District Team Meeting in Mid-May, along with the recognition of any outgoing officer.


Section 4. The final business meeting of the current school year may be held on the day of the All Star Game at the end of May.


Section 5. Special meetings may be held at the request of the President with a minimum of one (1) week notice to the membership.


Section 6. All meetings shall be conducted according to Robert’s Rules of Order. A quorum shall consist of a majority vote of the active members present. The order of business shall be:

a) Call to order by the President

b) Secretary’s reading of previous meeting’s minutes and approval

c) Treasurer’s report and approval

d) Committee’s reports, if any

e) Old business

f) New business

g) Adjournment


Section 7. Members must be active members (dues paid) and attend the All District Team Meeting in order to nominate players for the All Area Team or be eligible for nomination for Coach of the Year. If an active voting member is unable to attend a meeting, he may send a representative from his school.
